Racial and Economic Equity, Inclusion and Long-term Sustainability: The Critical Role of CPR

January 19, 2023 @ 3:00 pm - 4:15 pm EST

Mahlet Getachew

A CPRT Expert Dialogue with Mahlet Getachew of PolicyLink

Over the past few years, business leaders have become more aware of racial discrimination and economic inequity, and how they affect employees, customers, communities and their businesses. Many are now working to create cultures of equity and inclusion, promote economic opportunity and invest in the communities where they operate, yet important questions remain if their efforts are to be effective.

Please join us for a timely interactive dialogue with Mahlet Getachew, Managing Director of Corporate Racial Equity at PolicyLink, where she is leading a multi-year effort to develop corporate performance standards on racial and economic equity through the Corporate Racial Equity Alliance, a groundbreaking partnership among PolicyLink, FSG, and JUST Capital. A former corporate lawyer, Mahlet now rallies business leaders and investors around the power of embedding equity into everyday decision-making.

In this dialogue, we will explore:

  • How do companies’ political activities advance or inhibit equity and inclusion?
  • What is the role of business in addressing discrimination and inequity in the broader society?
  • What new performance standards are emerging and how can companies respond most effectively?
  • What is the role of CPR in fostering equity, inclusion and long-term sustainability?

The Corporate Political Responsibility Taskforce (CPRT)’s Expert Dialogues are in-depth, recorded conversations with academic experts, stakeholder advocates and business practitioners to provide our members and other CPR champions with the expertise and context they need to develop principled, proactive CPR strategies.

We invite those interested in a constructive, non-partisan, principles-based discussion. To learn more, contact Elizabeth Doty at [email protected].

This dialogue is designed for leaders in government affairs, diversity, equity and inclusion, and sustainability, as well as academic experts and stakeholder advocates. We invite those interested in a constructive, non-partisan, principles-based discussion.
