Carey Bylin is currently the Air Pollution Specialist on the California Air Resources Board. She had previously worked for the US Environmental Protection Agency’s Climate Change Division since August 2005. At EPA Carey managed the Division’s domestic and international oil and gas work under the Natural Gas STAR Program and the Methane to Markets Partnership. In this role, she worked with oil and natural gas companies worldwide to actively promote detection and quantification of methane emissions (natural gas losses), as well as the implementation of cost-effective technologies and practices that reduce methane emissions and increase efficiency in the oil and natural gas sector. Carey has managed the development of methane emissions inventories as well as on-site measurement campaigns in the U.S., India, Argentina, Chile and Colombia.

Prior to joining EPA, Carey worked for Cummins, Inc., leading the development and commercialization of catalytic emission control products for on-road diesel engines. She has also worked for the World Resources Institute, managing corporate stakeholder feedback for the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, an international, multi-sector accounting and reporting standard for greenhouse gas emissions. Carey has a bachelors degree from UCLA, and an MBA and MS (Environmental Science) from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
