Mark Tholke
Chief Development Officer
Advanced Microgrid Solutions
As Chief Development Officer with Advanced Microgrid Solutions, Mark is responsible and accountable for all project development and implementation, including siting, permitting, interconnection, design engineering and negotiations for battery supply and balance of system. AMS currently has over 400MWh under contract, with 20 behind-the-meter energy storage systems completed in Southern California by the end of 2017 (AMS’ 50MW LCR project with SCE was the industry’s first energy storage project to secure non-recourse debt financing). Mark is also founder/advisor for Golden State Renewable Energy, a solar PV developer focused on the principle that the best projects for community choice aggregators (CCAs) are those that support local, in-county solar PV infrastructure.
Prior to joining AMS, Mark was Vice President for EDF Renewable Energy’s West Region, the only firm in the industry simultaneously developing utility-scale wind and solar PV projects in California. Under his leadership, EDF RE West region developed/built/financed 490 megawatts (MW) wind and 144 MW solar, with another 102 MW under construction, all from greenfield. Prior to joining EDF RE (formerly enXco), Mark held roles with Eurus, GE Wind Energy, Green Mountain Energy and a research affiliate of the Heinz Foundation. Mark holds a joint MBA/MS in Environmental Science from University of Michigan and Bachelor Degrees in Environmental Science & Economics from UC Santa Cruz.
