Jenny Cooper
Director of Environmental Education & Sustainability
The Northwest School
Jenny is currently the Director of Environmental Education & Sustainability at The Northwest School. Prior to joining the Erb Institute, Jenny spent three years working for the International Climate Program at Environmental Defense Fund. Her time there, combined with experiences working on urban agriculture and food justice in Oakland, CA and living abroad in West Africa, inspired her to seek out opportunities to collaborate with people across disciplines to find creative, pragmatic strategies to address climate change. At Michigan, Jenny focused on urban climate mitigation and adaptation, and the intersecting roles of the private and public sectors in those processes. Jenny spent the summer gaining experience in the implementation of climate mitigation policy with the NYC Mayor’s Office of Long-Term Planning and Sustainability. She is currently conducting a greenhouse gas inventory of the City of Detroit with a team of fellow University of Michigan graduate students. Jenny enjoys traveling by bicycle, rock climbing, and all things related to cooking, eating, and growing food.
