Dan is interested in a career in conservation management of oceans and water resources, utilizing market based financial tools and seeking cross-sector partnerships. He believes finding solutions to complex ecological challenges requires aligning business, government, and community interests. For his masters project, Dan is working with the World Resource Institute on a implementing a payments for watershed services program in Maine with an emphasis on developing cost effective strategies to engage landowners to participate. This past summer he interned with the National Park Service with their Business Plan Internship and developed a detailed action plan to improve the effectiveness of an internal human resources transformation. Previously, Dan interned with the Environmental Defense Fund’s Climate Corps internship and identified energy efficiency opportunities at Franklin Templeton Investments. Prior to returning to the University of Michigan, Dan developed and coordinated youth social entrepreneurship programs at the Empowerment Group in Philadelphia. Dan graduated from the University of Michigan in 2006 with a B.S. in environmental science and ecosystem ecology. Dan enjoys smoothies, scuba diving, and basketball.
