Claudia is Deputy Director of Market Dynamics at the Program for Appropriate Technology in Health (PATH) in Seattle, Washington. PATH is an international, non-profit, nongovernmental organization dedicated to improving the health of women and children. PATH identifies, develops, and applies appropriate and innovative solutions to public health problems, particularly in low-resource settings. Founded in 1977, PATH has managed over 950 projects in 100 countries. In all its activities, PATH collaborates with public- and private-sector partners, including community groups, nongovernmental organizations, commercial enterprises, ministries of health, and international agencies. PATH’s headquarters are located in Seattle. Additional offices are located in Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Philippines, Thailand, Ukraine, Vietnam, and Washington, D.C. Claudia’s major responsibilities are business planning, marketing, and commercialization. Her primary areas of focus are the Ultra Rice(tm) team and the Health Technologies team, where she conducts market research; identifies public- and private sector partners; implements strategies to transfer technology in developing countries; negotiates licensing and technology transfer agreements; and manages intellectual property issues. Current assignments take her to Brazil, India, and Indonesia on a regular basis.
