Overview: The Senior Manager, Inclusion & Engagement will play a critical role in implementing and advancing U.S. Soccer Federation’s diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) strategy. Working closely with the Vice President, Inclusion & Engagement, this role will help embed DEIB principles across all levels of the organization, ensuring meaningful and sustainable impact.

This position will be responsible for developing internal DEIB initiatives, supporting external programs, and collaborating across departments to drive inclusive culture change. The Senior Manager will also work in close partnership with Human Resources, focusing on education and training, diverse talent development, and retention strategies. Additionally, this role will track key metrics, assess organizational climate, and provide data-driven insights to guide strategy.

Roles/Responsibilities:

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Development and Execution

  • Support the execution of U.S. Soccer’s DEIB strategy, aligning with the organization’s “In Service to Soccer” vision.
  • Collaborate with HR, Sporting, Membership, Soccer Forward, and Commercial teams to integrate DEIB principles across all organizational functions.
  • Design and implement inclusive engagement programs for employees, membership organizations, and soccer stakeholders.
  • Lead Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) support and development, ensuring they are aligned with the organization’s goals and properly resourced.
  • Oversee the development of DEIB learning resources and cultural competency training for employees and soccer communities.
  • Maintain an inventory of DEIB programs and initiatives happening across the Federation.
  • Lead internal communication efforts to keep employees informed and engaged in DEIB initiatives, events, and programs.

Strategic Partnerships & Community Engagement

  • Work with Soccer Forward and community organizations to develop programs that increase access to soccer for underrepresented communities.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with grassroots organizations, state associations, and corporate partners to amplify U.S. Soccer’s DEIB impact.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Communications, and Sponsorship teams to ensure DEIB storytelling is embedded into campaigns and events.

Data, Insights & Reporting

  • Assist in tracking DEIB program impact, engagement metrics, and long-term outcomes.
  • Utilize pulse surveys, engagement tools, and feedback mechanisms to assess belonging and inclusion within the organization.
  • Partner with Technology & Data teams to develop equity-focused reporting tools and dashboards.
  • Ensure compliance with industry best practices, SafeSport guidelines, and governance frameworks.
  • Coordinate U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC) annual DEI reporting, ensuring compliance and accuracy.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Organization Development, Human Resources, Social Sciences, Business, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in DEIB, community engagement, or organizational development, preferably in a sports, nonprofit, or corporate environment.
  • General knowledge of soccer.
  • High cultural competency and emotional intelligence with the ability to navigate sensitive conversations.
  • Experience in designing and implementing employee engagement initiatives and cultural competency training
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to coach leaders on inclusive practices.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong understanding of DEIB principles, inclusive leadership, and social impact programming.
  • Ability to analyze data and translate insights into strategic DEIB recommendations.
  • Passion for soccer and commitment to using the sport as a platform for inclusion and equity.
  • Capable of working in fast-paced and demanding environments.
  • Must be able to connect “micro” details to the “macro” vision and mission.
  • Proficient experience with Microsoft Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook).

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Master’s degree in Organization Development, Human Resources, Social Sciences, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in diversity, equity, and inclusion program development.
  • Experience working in soccer, sports & entertainment, an affiliate-based organization, or a national governing body.
  • Demonstrated ability to challenge the status quo, bring innovative solutions, and drive meaningful change.
  • Experience working with athletes, coaches, and sports governing bodies.
  • Fluency in multiple languages or familiarity with global cultures is a plus.
  • Familiarity with U.S. Soccer’s governance structure, state associations, and membership organizations.
