President Mary Sue Coleman announced on April 1st that U-M will adopt a worker safety initiative by recommendation of the President’s Advisory Committee on Labor Standards and Human Rights. The Accord on Fire and Building Safety in Bangladesh initiative is a five year agreement to establish public reporting, independent fire and building safety inspectors and improving factory safety practices for workers.
