Graduate Dual Degree

Programming

Life at Erb is more than coursework. From student-led coaching to beloved annual traditions, Erb programming is designed to build the skills, relationships, and community that last long after graduation.

Connect with Real-World Leaders

Erb’s co-curricular workshops are designed to connect Dual-Degree students with the ideas, industries, and leaders shaping a more sustainable future. These interactive sessions explore the topics you as a student care about most—from energy and consulting to consumer packaged goods, food systems, and beyond—through real-world insights and candid conversations.

A defining feature of the series is direct access to Erb alumni who are driving impact across these sectors. Each workshop is typically paired with informal coffee chats, giving you the opportunity to build relationships, ask questions, and gain practical career insight in a relaxed setting.

Highlighted speakers from the 2025-2026 academic year:

  • Erik Wolfe, MBA/MS Alum and Director of Product Marketing and Management at Sound Agriculture

  • Sarah Cole, MBA/MS Alum and Senior Consultant at Deloitte

  • Mike Buday, MBA/MS Alum and Director of Engineering and Construction at Competitive Power Ventures

  • Elizabeth Doty, Executive Director at Third Side Strategies

Erb coaching has been one of the best opportunities I've been able to do during graduate school. It's taught me how to problem solve without taking on the burden of the problem, and given me tools to facilitate coaching and mentoring others. Coaching is an undervalued leadership skill by far!

How it works

Erbers are matched in pairs. The coach asks powerful questions to help the coachee think out loud, surface insights, and navigate their own path — no advice-giving, no hierarchy.

Not therapy, not mentorship

Coaching is forward-looking and peer-to-peer. Coachees set the agenda; coaches facilitate through listening. This leads to deeper personal breakthroughs than traditional mentorship.

Skills you'll build

Active listening, deep inquiry, facilitation, and self-awareness — skills that coaches carry into their workplaces, families, and friendships after Erb.

A unique Erb perk

Dual-degree students get free access to an executive coach who teaches these same skills at top companies worldwide.

Erb Traditions

The Student Advisory Board (SAB) organizes traditions throughout the year to build a strong, lasting sense of Erb community. Here are a few highlights:

Erbsgiving

A November communal meal where Erbers gather to celebrate community and share gratitude heading into the holiday season.

Erb Curling

A beloved annual outing where Erbers hit the ice together for a fun and memorable group curling experience.

Erb Camping

Held the week after graduation, camping is a chance to bond across classes, compete in Erb Olympics, and formally welcome mid-year admits into the community.

Mystery Dinners

Enjoy dinner with a handful of surprise guests—a fun way to build unexpected connections within the Erb community.

Third-Year Office Hours

Organized by third years, this is a relaxed space to share hard-won wisdom—the kind you don't get in any syllabus.

The Jug

Many Erbers find themselves at the Brown Jug on S. University once a week—for a drink, some food, and good company.

Staff-Hosted Events

In addition to the many Erb SAB-hosted events, the Erb Institute staff hosts many events throughout the year, including a Welcome Back reception, coffee chats with through our business and sustainability network, and Winter and Spring Graduations.

Our Community

The Erb community is one of the most distinctive and enduring parts of the dual-degree experience. Because Erbers navigate two demanding programs at once, the bonds formed here carry a particular depth—built on shared challenge, shared purpose, and a genuine commitment to using business as a force for good. Traditions aren't just fun events; they're the connective tissue that links cohorts across years, helps new students find their footing, and reminds everyone why they came to Erb in the first place.

Long after graduation, Erb alumni describe their community as one of their most valued professional and personal networks—a testament to the culture that SAB and generations of Erbers have worked so hard to build.
