Professional Development Funding

Support for Your Career & Professional Development

At the Erb Institute, we want you to explore the opportunities that sharpen your skills, expand your network, and move you toward the career you’re building at the intersection of business and sustainability. Our Professional Development Funding is here to help you do exactly that.

This competitive funding is available exclusively to Erb Dual-Degree students and supports activities that meaningfully advance your professional growth—whether you’re building new skills, testing ideas, or deepening your expertise in real-world settings.

At its core, the Professional Development Fund is about growth. We created it to help you deepen your skills, strengthen your professional toolkit, and apply your academic work in real-world contexts. It’s a way to explore your interests, build confidence, and gain the supplemental experience that helps you make an impact—both during your time at Michigan and long after.

Our Goals for Your Development

This funding is designed to help you:

  • Grow personally and professionally

  • Pursue opportunities that align with your interests and career goals

  • Build capacity through hands-on, self-directed learning

  • Apply classroom knowledge in real-world settings across business and sustainability

  • Contribute to the Erb Institute’s mission of creating a sustainable world through the power of business

As an international student, joining Erb marked the opening of many doors. I’ve had the chance to receive funding to pursue a sustainability certification, meet inspiring sustainability leaders who are Erb alumni not only in the U.S. but around the world, and connect with company partners to contribute to sustainability projects, among other opportunities. Erb offers an incredible platform to learn not only in the classroom, through Ross or SEAS, but also through hands-on experience in sustainability.
