Peter Adriaens

Dr. Adriaens is Professor of Engineering, Finance and Entrepreneurship at the University of Michigan, where he directs the Center for Digital Asset Finance and the Master of Engineering in Smart Infrastructure Finance. Funded by corporations, financial services firms and foundations, his research focuses on digital business, finance and data market models for energy, low carbon and smart infrastructure, and on advanced data science models to price climate transitioning risk in the capital markets. His team publishes in management, finance and technical journals, and he has presented at civil engineering, financial risk, operations management, and blockchain conferences. He teaches Engineering Economics and Finance, Climate and Resiliency Finance, and Infrastructure Project Finance, including use cases in low carbon and energy infrastructure. He is a member of the American Academy of Environmental Engineering, and of the Belgian Royal Academy of Applied Science. Previously, he was Distinguished Professor of Entrepreneurship at Sichuan University (China) and at the Research Institute of the Finnish Economy (Helsinki, Finland) focused on investment models for low carbon transitioning. He is co-founder of Equarius® Risk Analytics, a financial technology firm focused on corporate climate risk pricing in equities, and of the Global CleanTech Cluster Association (2009-2020), focused on economic development clusters for green technology startups. He serves on the advisory board of the Great Lakes Impact Investment Platform, Triangle Digital, and Integrated Roadways.
