Cat Summers

Catherine (Cat) Summers is an Assistant Professor of Organizational Behavior and Human Resources Management (OBHR) at the University of Michigan-Flint’s School of Management. Summers’ research agenda focuses on producing OBHR scholarship with meaningful societal and environmental impact. Specifically, she seeks to develop and define organizational leadership for social and environmental sustainability through rigorous examination of organizational phenomena. For example, one stream of research focuses on environmental nonprofits becoming more business-like, and another examines the evolution of recruiting practices.

Summers has published empirical research in outlets such as MIT Sloan Management Review, Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, and Organization Studies. Prior to joining UM-Flint, Summers was a post-doctoral fellow on UM’s Ann Arbor campus, jointly appointed between the Erb Institute and the Ford School of Public Policy. She earned her doctorate from the University of Virginia in an interdisciplinary program between the School of Engineering and Darden School of Business.
