Shiryn Anissa Noor Affendi

Shiryn Anissa Noor Affendi is passionate about the social ramifications of the global environmental pursuit, especially in the energy industry and food systems. Shiryn is currently majoring in Sociology and minoring in Energy Science and Policy. Born and raised in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, she is especially interested in the power dynamics between larger players that affect smaller, more local communities. By focusing her interest in localized solutions through energy science, policy, and food systems on campus, she garners a unique approach to addressing large issues on a small but direct scale. Shiryn evolves this interest by being the Culture Manager for the University of Michigan Sustainable Food Program, and also works with Students for Clean Energy and the Sierra Club on campus. She aims to bring awareness and create action in her local communities as and when she gets a chance to do so.
