Niels is interested in how financial intermediaries and mission driven investors can contribute to developing sustainable communities by investing in innovative business models that can scale impact. In particular, Niels is exploring foundational industries (energy, food, shelter and water) and ecosystem services. Niels has worked for CEI Capital Management, LLC (CCML) where he performed due diligence for community scale renewable energy projects, prepared investment memos, researched impact issues, gained exposure to complex transactional structures and analyzed the distribution of benefits in layered impact investment structures. Before enrolling at the University of Michigan, Niels worked for Fidelity Investments where he held roles in finance and mutual fund product management. Niels holds a BA Mathematical Computer Sciences from Lewis & Clark College.
