Nick is the CEO of Endectra. The company is is commercializing a solid-state radiation detection technology developed at the University of Michigan which spectrally resolves the energy distribution of fast neutrons, can displace existing detectors that use expensive helium-3 gas, and will enable entirely new microdetector form factors for next-gen radiation sensor network topologies. Prior, he served as CEO of CSquared Innovations Inc., a U-M spinout commercializing additive manufacturing technologies which offer a cost effective and highly scalable “platform” approach to the synthesis of nanostructured materials and films for advanced batteries, capacitors, photovoltaics, and industrial coatings. Before joining CSquared, Nick was a Mentor in Residence for the U-M Office of Tech Transfer and Business Development Officer for Diverse Energy Ltd., a British fuel cell company working to replace diesel generators in off-grid cellular telecom base stations in developing countries. He also served as President and CEO of a publicly-traded energy tech incubator and as business development adviser to Energy Conversion Devices, where he worked on photovoltaics, NiMH batteries, fuel cells, hydrogen storage, and next-gen IT. Before joining the Erb Institute, Nick worked as a yacht delivery captain and served as an officer in the U.S. Coast Guard, where he was named a “Coast Guard Hero” in 2000. He holds a B.S. (High Honors) in Marine & Environmental Science from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and a 200-ton USCG captain’s license.
