John is the Founder and CEO of the Evergreen Education Group, which focuses on K-12 digital education market research. Evergreen publishes the Keeping Pace reports and has conducted research for, and advised, school districts, NGOs, foundations, companies, state agencies, legislatures, education boards, and charter school commissions. Evergreen‘s work has been cited in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Education Week, and other media. In 2005 John founded Aventouras, a company dedicated to socially responsible active travel in Latin America. Aventouras offers trips to Peru, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Panama, Belize, Ecuador, and Galapagos; and all trips combine active travel and remote destinations. The company works with sustainable travel and environmental organizations in numerous ways, from offsetting carbon emissions on its trips to offering discounted trips as fundraisers for conservation groups. Aventouras trips to Peru and Guatemala have received the prestigious “50 trips of a lifetime” award from National Geographic Traveler.
