Chang Wang is a postdoctoral research fellow at the Erb Institute for Global Sustainable Enterprise, a joint program of the Ross School of Business and the School for Environment and Sustainability at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Her research interests lie at the intersection of environmental policy and sustainable development, with a particular focus on the design and implementation of effective policies for reducing emissions at the corporate, regional, and global levels. Her work examines both the intended and unintended consequences of key carbon and energy policies, such as carbon neutrality targets (Journal of Chinese Governance), green stimulus measures (iScience), energy sector reforms (Energy EconomicsGeoforumRenewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews), and place-based regulations (Journal of Environmental ManagementEarth’s Future). She also explores climate finance (Economics Letters), air pollution (China Economic Review), sustainable finance policies, emission trading systems, and grassroots low-carbon initiatives.

Chang earned her Ph.D. in Economics from Fudan University and has held several (mostly) internationally-funded visiting positions during her doctoral studies, including stints at Yale University, the University of Warwick, and the National University of Singapore. She is also an Executive Committee Member of the Energy Geographies Research Group within the Royal Geographical Society.
