Overview: You will be part of the Global Sustainability Team (GST) leading our company’s pioneering sustainability journey and the continuous evolution of our sustainability strategy. The sustainability strategy is built on the pillars: Climate Action, Circular Economy and Biodiversity, and Responsible Business. It’s enabled by effective and responsible communication, stakeholder engagement, governance as well as data and analytics.
Roles/Responsibilities:
This role has two main parts:
- you will drive strategic projects to integrate sustainability into the business through effective sustainability governance and contribute to the development of our sustainability strategy.
- you will be a GST lead representing Volvo Cars sustainability strategy, including through engagement with selected stakeholders and input to communication materials, working in in close collaboration with our Communications and External Affairs department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support strengthening sustainability governance and how it is integrated into operations including specification of responsibilities and mandates, understanding our processes, facilitating improvements and minimizing risks.
- Support strategy development in collaboration with the Global Sustainability Leadership Team looking at the overarching global strategy and support integration into the corporate strategy as well as following up on the strategy and its impact.
- Represent the Global Sustainability Team and Volvo Cars in selected stakeholder engagements through dialogues and presentations of the sustainability strategy and impact.
- Lead sustainability input to materials and engagements, ensuring Volvo Cars statements are science and fact-based e.g., position papers, internal sustainability trainings, events and website updates. Support Head of Global Sustainability´s participation in internal and external events in collaboration with the Communications and External Affairs department.
Qualifications:
- A devoted and senior sustainability professional with solid experience in sustainability strategy, governance or communications.
- Ability to drive strategic projects including sustainability integration into business through sustainability governance.
- Strong understanding of current and emerging global sustainability issues and challenges, ideally within the transport sector, and the ability to relate them to business action.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English), with the ability to craft clear, concise, and engaging messages for diverse audiences.
- University Degree in Sustainability, Communication, Business or related field.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to involve and balance stakeholders, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to bring clarity to complex situations, a strong analytical and data-driven mindset and ability to ensure decisions and messages can be backed up with data.
- Understanding of the current and new regulatory and reporting requirements such as CSRD and Green Claims Directive.
- Natural team player with a strong ability to build good working relationships with external stakeholders and internal colleagues.
