Overview: This role reports to the Strategy and Disclosures Senior Manager within the Environment, Safety, Health and Sustainability (ESHS) organization. This position is responsible for drafting and design of key annual sustainability disclosures which are fast-becoming regulatory compliance requirements. Other responsibilities include strategic and tactical analysis, stakeholder engagement, research, benchmarking, process improvement and documentation, data management and investor engagement.
Roles/Responsibilities – Potential recurring projects include:
- Sustainability reporting: Collect and summarize content for inclusion in the annual sustainability report and related disclosures, applying reporting frameworks like GRI or ISSB; conduct benchmarking of sustainability reporting practices, create tracking methods and tools for disclosures, support promotion and distribution methods, and support the third-party assurance process.
- Sustainability regulations: Support the coordination of a cross-functional working group to manage ESG regulations, collaborate with the advocacy team and implement ESG reporting regulations for respective local, regional or global requirements.
- Sustainability disclosures & strategic advancement: Act as project manager for key external disclosures, such as CDP and DJSI. Role will also include review of data for other raters and rankers including ISS, MSCI, Sustainalytics, JUST Capital, etc. It further includes regular gap analysis, benchmarking as well as the identification and implementation of opportunities to strategically improve disclosures.
- Communications and employee engagement: Support the planning and alignment of various internal and external communication measures, implement training sessions, develop engagement materials.
- Data governance: Support the implementation of a data governance structure and standard work process.
- Investor engagement: Support creation of materials to support ESG investor engagement, draft responses to inquiries from key investors and conduct research on investor ESG trends.
- Materiality assessment and sustainability goal development: Support the materiality assessment and related management plan development and reporting.
Qualifications:
- Five years of professional experience in sustainability, environment, social, and governance or corporate responsibility disciplines within an ESG rating firm, large global corporation or consulting firm.
- Exceptional project management experience handling competing deadlines.
- Familiarity with ESG and sustainability disclosures such as CDP, DJSI/CSA, ISS, MSCI or Sustainalytics, and reporting standards such as GRI, SASB, or in corporate financial filings.
- Excellent analytical skills.
- True team player with demonstrated success working seamlessly with a team.
- Demonstrated written and verbal communications skills.
Desired Skills:
- Master’s degree related to sustainability, corporate responsibility, environment, social, or governance disciplines and a minimum of 3 year of professional experience in those disciplines or a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in sustainability, corporate responsibility, environment, social, or governance disciplines.
- Experience developing internal controls for ESG data reporting.
- Experience preparing for emerging sustainability reporting regulations such as those in US, EU, Canada, Australia, etc.
- Ability to engage and influence stakeholders.
- Experience using Workiva wDesk or proven aptitude for learning a new software or system.
- Advanced user of Microsoft Office and Adobe products.
- Experience working on projects with external vendors
