Google’s Climate and Energy Research team is applying Google technologies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Given the immensity of the problem, we are pursuing many parallel efforts including technologies to reduce the generation of global warming gasses, new sources of clean energy, tools to support human adaptation to climate change, and efforts to undo past harm by removing climate warming gasses from the atmosphere.

Google Research is working on solutions to reduce the climate footprint of aviation, both by reducing CO2 emissions and also reducing the impact of a nascent category of non-CO2 effects. In this role, you will collaborate with academic, industry, and government partners, and partner closely with the Google Flights team to display emissions data to Google consumers. You will help expand our existing solutions and craft visions for new solutions.


  • Direct product management for our aviation climate portfolio, working with our research and engineering team, as well as Google Flights to drive climate impact for our research.
  • Communicate solutions requirements through engagement with end users, stakeholders, and partners, and thorough understanding of the science, designing appropriate solutions and trade-offs in collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Remove obstacles to team execution in close collaboration with program management, while navigating an early-stage research environment.
  • Navigate critical partnerships strategy and lead our go-to-market approach, including working closely with our business development team and program management, as well as sustainability product managers in Google Flights.
  • Contribute new ideas and product strategies to Google Research’s climate outside of aviation.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience
  • 7 years of experience in product management or a similar field
  • Experience working in a matrixed team structure, influencing across product areas/groups, and developing/delivering product roadmaps

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education/training in climate science or other natural science
  • Experience working closely with enterprise customers and policymakers in developing and launching new products
  • Experience working on climate and energy issues
  • Ability to operate in a research environment
  • Ability to achieve strategic goals and evolve product strategy based on research, data, and industry trends in an innovative and fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate well on different levels of abstraction, from technical to executive
