Salary: $60,000 – $70,000


The Marketing Manager will promote the Sanger Leadership Center’s engagement with students, faculty, staff, alumni and external audiences including prospective students, partners, businesses, campus units, and experts. Working directly with the Associate Directors and the Sanger team, you will oversee and further our brand platform, build upon and implement our multi-year marketing strategy, and promote Sanger toward becoming the number one leadership development center in the world. You will be an important contributor on a collaborative team that is known for its creative, inclusive, and self-empowering approach to leadership development.

You will report to the Associate Director for Strategic Partnerships.

You Will

Content Creation & Communications

  • Write, seek, and design content that is with our overall marketing and brand strategy (blogs, emails, newsletters, videos, podcasts, social media, public forums such as classrooms)
  • Look for opportunities to partner with Michigan Ross MarCom and local media to feature Sanger
  • Manage vendors for design, photography, videography
  • Develop marketing and recruitment needs for programs, including digital posters, slides, banners
  • Work across multiple cultural contexts including an understanding of how to adapt communication styles for different communities

Digital Marketing

  • Oversee updates, strategy, and management of the Center’s website and blog, in partnership with an external web developer
  • Update the Center’s social media strategy; strengthen all aspects of digital presence across multiple channels
  • Improve the Center’s digital reach, influence, and engagement

Brand Management & Strategy

  • Together with the Associate Director, lead a brand management strategy that strengthens the Center’s brand position, definition, and consistency of messaging
  • Ensure the Center’s branding and content strategy aligns and strengthen both the Michigan Ross and University of Michigan brands
  • Manage creation of all Sanger-branded templates, logos, and promotional materials

Data Management & Reporting

  • Co-create annual evaluation and reporting mechanisms
  • Work with Michigan Ross Development and Alumni Relations to produce the Center’s annual report, sponsorship reports, and other data-based publications
  • Collect and analyze relevant data to determine the impact of marketing tactics and shape future strategy

Administration & Event Support

  • Assist the Center’s team in building high-quality programs and events, including staffing in-person and remote events when needed
  • Prepare and administer marketing and communications budget

You Have

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business administration, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary

  • 3+ years of professional experience in marketing, communications, or related fields
  • 2+ years of experience in content development (writing and posting blogs, news releases, and social media)
  • 2+ years of experience in marketing or brand strategy; creating ideas to further an organization’s reach and reputation
  • 2+ years of experience using project management best practices
  • Applied experience using WordPress, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, and MailChimp
  • Experience managing social media platforms, including Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, and other new platforms
  • Knowledge of data collection methods to inform strategy
