Overview:

The individual in this role will be responsible for leading aspects of stakeholder engagement in Cardinal Health’s supply chain on environmental and social matters. The manager will help develop and lead strategies to ensure the Cardinal Health supply chain remains compliant with growing legislation worldwide that requires reporting, due diligence, and supply chain mapping and tracing. This role is critical in building knowledge internally and building capabilities in our suppliers to ensure compliance and ongoing improvements for a resilient, sustainable supply chain into the future.

This position works collaboratively across the enterprise and with suppliers across the world and requires an experienced and detail-oriented leader who can function independently with diverse stakeholders and manage through influence across levels and functions. This position requires an individual who has experience building and supporting strategies in a matrixed business environment and who operates with a consistent awareness of deadlines and results.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide input on the Cardinal Health internal and external ESG communications strategy and advise on content creation and positioning.
  • Cultivate and grow relationships with various stakeholder groups, build trust, and coordinate projects across business units and sourcing to drive progress in supplier diligence and supply chain mapping.
  • Proactively engage and train relevant internal teams to build further buy-in and support of the company’s responsible sourcing work.
  • Create visually engaging communications for internal and external audiences, including dashboards, scorecards, infographics, PowerPoints, and reports, to demonstrate our responsible sourcing progress.
  • Support the Sales team in communicating responsible sourcing progress to customers.
  • Lead the development of the supplier communications strategy and advise on content creation and positioning.
  • Advise on supplier outreach, and communications prior to launching survey or audit campaigns.
  • Develop and execute the supplier training strategy.
  • Engage third party service providers in developing supplier capacity building and training programs.
  • Lead the development and execution of risk-based supply chain mapping and tracing in collaboration with third party service providers.
  • Assess current technology and third-party providers to develop a multi-year roadmap for a robust mapping and tracing program.
  • Consistently monitor the rapidly evolving regulatory environment, globally, along with customer, investor, NGO, and other market pressures, to advise the company on global best practices with respect to supplier engagement and supply chain diligence.
  • Monitor and analyze the strategies, policies, and programs of other Fortune 500 companies, with particular attention to the healthcare industry.
  • Support the improvement of processes and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years’ experience in ESG, Responsible Sourcing, or related program or function preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree highly preferred, master’s degree preferred, in sustainability, supply chain or related topic.
  • Strong communication skills required, including the ability to express complex concepts in verbal and written forms at all levels of management and to stakeholders with diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated experience influencing without formal authority to accomplish company-wide goals.
  • An understanding of today’s key global ESG issues and landscape, and the roles of the private, nonprofit, and public sectors both in the U.S. and abroad.
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate trends and issues in business and society that affect the company’s responsible sourcing agenda and reputation.
  • Analytical, organizational, planning, and project management experience and ability to work independently, including the ability to multi-task and manage demands and/or projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrates collaboration, problem solving, and conflict management skills to ensure a productive work environment and achievement of objectives.
  • Experience and comfort managing external consultants.
  • Proven ability to inspire, collaborate and manage internal relationships and cultivate partnerships across functions and regions.
