Johnson & Johnson is currently recruiting for an ESG Environmental Manager (New Consumer Health Company). This position will be located in New Brunswick, NJ

Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Consumer Health business to create a new publicly traded company. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 24 months, and it will be subject to legal requirements including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as required, and other customary conditions and approvals.   

It is anticipated that, following conclusion of the transaction, this position may be conveyed with New Consumer Health. In that case, details of any planned changes would be provided to the successful candidate by New Consumer Health at an appropriate time and would be subject to any necessary consultation processes. 

This position supports the Environmental Lead in managing programs, relationships, processes and activities that drive the environmental strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Program coordination – Supports cross-functional stakeholder engagement activities on environmental-related topics and initiatives (e.g., Supply Chain, EHS and Facilities management) and supports the climate strategy and other environmental strategies as required (e.g., climate/net zero plan, carbon management program, carbon offsetting, ingredient transparency program, plastics reduction initiatives, water and waste management, circularity, biodiversity, etc.)
  • Data, controls & performance monitoring – Coordinates environmental and climate-related data collection, performance measurement and monitoring (e.g., progress against SBTs, TNFD, and maintains processes and controls associated with environmental data
  • Risk management – Completes identification, assessment and monitoring of environmental and climate-related risks and opportunities, including monitoring environmental initiatives and compliance with federal and state environmental regulations, as well as those set by the organization (e.g., in areas such as air quality, waste, clean water, and pollution)
  • Policy management – Supports the Environmental Lead in developing and maintaining environmental standards, policies (e.g., emissions calculations that support the Greenhouse Gas Emissions (“GHG”) and climate reporting processes in alignment with existing and future emissions related regulations and standards), as well as external environmental position statements (e.g., air emissions, water footprint, sustainable procurement, biodiversity)

Working Relationships

Work primarily with the following key functions on relevant environmental topics

  • Supply Chain/Procurement – Land & forests, plastics, sustainable innovation & technology, biodiversity
  • EHS and Facilities Management – Air emissions, water, waste, personal care & pharmaceuticals in the environment (PCPIE), biodiversity
  • R&D – Sustainable innovation & technology, Plastics, land & forests, water, waste, personal care & pharmaceuticals in the environment (PCPIE), biodiversity
  • General Counsel & Corporate Affairs – Environmental policy and position development, environmental lobbying and advocacy, and local community engagement
  • Finance – contracting and procurement of renewable energy certificates or similar

Qualifications

Required

  • Degree or qualification in environmental science or similar technical field
  • 3+ years environmental sustainability experience (including GHG inventory/carbon management, climate change and other environmental topics)
  • 2+ years of consumer experience
  • Experience working with a global organization

Preferred

  • Knowledge of product and consumer related environmental regulations
  • Knowledge of US, EU and other international environmental regulations and laws
  • Experience working with ESG-related data software systems
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, strong emphasis on Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience working with external organizations on various environmental-related matters
