The role of the ‘Digital Content Specialist’ is to design new and creative approaches to ISO’s digital content development and distribution.

Under a unified Communications and Engagement strategy, the Digital Content Specialist will plan, create, improve and maintain a range of content on ISO’s digital platforms. This exciting new role reports to the Head, Web, Design and Translation as part of the Communications and Engagement Team.

  • Support the development of a digital content strategy and ensure its continued relevance and fit for organizational objectives
  • Contribute to the success of the web roadmap in daily collaboration with the Lead UX Web Designer
    Synthesize complex content and subject matter by developing an editorial strategy
  • Work with ISO/CS colleagues to act as a bridge between content experts and ISO audiences to understand and shape key messages for publication on ISO digital platforms
  • Ensure that the organization’s websites provide the best content experience
  • Establish and maintain an information architecture that is well organized and supports user intentions
  • Use and interpret data to consider and inform content development decisions. Coordinate the development and integration of content from writers and designers (internal and external), as well as writing original content and micro-copy as needed
  • Set and maintain best practice for writing and structuring digital content, to maximize readability, usability, accessibility, ensuring that internal and external content contributors adhere to these standards
  • Plan and implement strategies to increase relevance on search engines (SEO) by monitoring web traffic and other metrics to identify best practices.


  • At least 5-years’ experience in a similar role
  • Fluent written and verbal command of English, other languages a plus
  • Strong understanding of SEO and its best practices and how this will affect the content that you create
  • Creativity and the ability to develop effective, high-quality content for specific audiences with solid research and editing skills
  • Knowledge of multiple channels and platforms, as well as emerging experiences
  • Proficiency with content management systems
  • Proficiency with Google Analytics and SEO tools
  • Basic knowledge of UX best practices
  • Basic knowledge of HTML
  • Good knowledge of user research principles and methods
  • Familiarity with best practices and tools for social media
  • Experience in data analysis and reporting
