Overview

Supporting the Corporate Relations team, you will help scale WRI’s work through private sector engagement opportunities. We work collaboratively across the Institute and with companies to develop strategies that maximize business opportunities and integrate environmental and social responsibility throughout their operations, products and services.

Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Relations, this highly motivated person will play a critical role in helping WRI strengthen corporate partnerships through background research and administrative support.  This is an excellent opportunity for a creative and results-oriented individual to work across WRI’s global constellation of programs and offices, as well as our deep network of Fortune 500 partners.  The successful candidate for this position will be comfortable working on multiple projects, activities, and deadlines that require the ability to juggle multiple priorities. Excellent time management skills are essential. In addition, a successful candidate is very detail-oriented, possesses excellent interpersonal skills, is a strong writer and is comfortable conducting and synthesizing research on various Fortune 500 companies.

Responsibilities

Institutional Due Diligence: (40%)

  • Spearhead WRI’s institutional due diligence process for prospective corporate donors by:
    • Identifying potential risks related to new corporate partnerships and related risk-mitigation strategies,
    • Liaising across Programs, Centers and International Offices to collect relevant information and analyzing results;
    • Leading the continual process improvement of WRI’s corporate partnership due diligence process

Supporting Corporate Partner Management: (35%)

  • Track all corporate revenue by utilizing Salesforce reports and dashboards, support cash reconciliation, and manage award acknowledgement process for WRI’s corporate donors
  • Develop and maintain familiarity with WRI Programs (including delivery platforms), Centers, and International Offices
  • Track and map WRI’s ever-evolving suite of corporate partnerships across the organization’s programs and international offices to ensure strategic partnerships across companies and WRI teams; identify points of intersection with WRI objectives and work plan as needed
  • Enter, update, and track outreach to corporate partners in Salesforce (WRI’s relationship management software) to ensure coordinated and efficient touch points
  • Lead development and maintenance of corporate partner relationship briefing documents and presentations to inform WRI’s executive leadership team
  • Support Relationship Managers with ad hoc research on corporate donor strategy to track updates

Operational Support: (25%)

  • Provide general administrative support for the Corporate Relations team, i.e., scheduling internal and external meetings, meeting preparation, management (telecommunication technology), and follow-up, note-taking, ordering supplies, arranging travel, preparing/submitting expense reports, processing invoices, and other administrative tasks as needed
  • Coordinate with various Programs, Centers, and WRI International Offices to manage a cadence of regular internal meetings to inform corporate partner engagement strategies
  • Centrally manage grants and contracts associated tasks, such as the collection of due diligence documentation and award submission and review, for corporate donors as needed
  • Maintain a working knowledge of organizational policies, procedures, and guidelines to support the Corporate Relations day-to-day operations with guidance from the Development Operations Manager

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required with preference in environmental studies or related field; Master’s degree preferred
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant, full-time professional experience (experience in corporate sustainability or NGO fundraising is a plus)
  • Eager to learn and passion for sustainability is a must
  • Experience with, or knowledge of relationship management software (ie: Salesforce, BBCRM) is a plus
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
  • Ability to juggle competing priorities and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work under high pressure
  • Strong computer skills
  • US work authorization is required
