The Eastside Community Network (ECN) is seeking an intern to support business engagement through the Mack Avenue Business Association (MABA). The intern will be responsible for working with the Business and Economic Development Team to build a MABA Block Club Program by the end of June 2020, increase participation and awareness of MABA meetings, connect business owners with resources, update the Mack Avenue Business Directory as needed, and communicate with other neighborhood and economic development organizations in Eastern Wayne County.


  • College student enrolled in a part or full-time coursework
  • Ability to work with and support a diverse group of business owners, neighborhood residents, and other community stakeholders
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience working in or ability to work with small businesses
  • Organizational skills that allow the intern to balance multiple projects at a time
  • Team and Community-oriented work style
  • Solutions-oriented problem solver
  • Entrepreneurial mindset that can strategize while invoking creativity when necessary
  • Experience utilizing Google Suite in an office setting
  • Eastside Resident, and/or an individual committed to equitable business development in Eastern Wayne County


  • Build relationships with MABA business owners, residents, and community stakeholders
  • Develop, Recruit, and Operationalize a MABA Block Captain Program
  • Update the Mack Avenue Business Directory as needed
  • Welcome new businesses to the corridor
  • Share resources and provide support to businesses on Mack
  • Plan and host one or more Mack Avenue Business Association (MABA) Meetings
  • Record and share weekly progress with the Business and Economic Development Team
  • Other tasks as assigned that are pertinent or time-sensitive
