Erb student, Eric Krostich, joined the It’s Hot in Here podcast to talk about his summer internship experience with the Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI), a Colorado-based non-profit think-and-do-tank that focuses on the efficient and restorative use of resources. On the podcast, he discusses the non-profit’s new initiative called REALIZE, which implements energy efficiency solutions in the San Francisco Bay Area, as well as the greater United States.

“What we tried to replicate in the San Francisco Bay Area was energy neutrality, which is over the course of the year, producing more energy on site than consuming – that’s through solar panels on the roof. Financing would be another goal, which is making sure that the capital costs that go into the energy retrofit are financed through future energy cost savings to alleviate the pressure of a housing owner to take out loans.”
