Elizabeth Kolbert was the Erb Institute Purpose-to-Impact speaker on April 11th of this year. She spoke both to small student groups as well as a large auditorium on many themes related to her Pulitzer-prize winning book, The Sixth Extinction.
We are also grateful to Detroit Public Television and Great Lakes Now for this recorded private conversation with Elizabeth. In this talk Kolbert emphasizes the connection between understanding that our global systems are operating on a large time delay and why we need to heed the warnings coming from climate scientists. “[…] the full effects of what is happening today will not be felt for 20-30 years, by which point there is no turning back.”
