Erb Alumni Legacy – Master’s Project is Catalyst for University-wide Sustainability Agenda
Erb Alumni, Matt Roman, Samantha Sturhahn and Elizabeth Terry were featured in Stewards for their 2002 Master’s project. The project’s initial goal in 2001 focused on creating a definition and framework for sustainability along with a tool to evaluate these findings; forming a prototype sustainability report. This project inspired an environmental task force, an annual sustainability report and the Office of Sustainability at the University of Michigan. In addition, the students presented their master’s project to Fred and Barbara Erb, founders of the Erb Institute for Global Sustainable Enterprise.
Terry Alexander, executive director of the Office of Campus Sustainability stated that “the [master’s] students made the greatest impact in giving us a tool that we can use to educate the rest of the campus ongoing into the future about what we’re doing and how well we’re doing it.”
